The King Charles III coronation hallmark has been announced.
You know how excited I get about hallmarks! I’m delighted today that the Assay Offices of the UK announced a new commemorative hallmark which has been designed to celebrate the coronation of our King Charles III.
The hallmark is oval in shape and depicts King Charles III in profile. The approved hallmark is based on a medal by fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, Ian Rank-Broadley. It uses artwork supplied by Thomas Fattorini who designed the Platinum Jubilee Hallmark .
A commemorative hallmark is a hallmark which celebrates major events. Recent commemorative marks include the Silver Jubilee ~ 1977, The Millennium ~ 1999-2000, The Golden Jubilee ~ 2002, The Diamond Jubilee ~ 2012 and the Platinum Jubilee ~ 2022.
Commemorative Marks are optional hallmarks which can be added alongside the Date Letters and Traditional Marks.
The King’s Coronation Mark can be requested from the 1st of March 2023 and will only be available until 31st of December 2024. We can create a ring with this historic hallmark, find our Bespoke Ring Builder here.
A selection of possible designs were considered by the Assay Offices during the approval process. Two designs were submitted to the British Hallmarking Council which chose the design depicting the King’s head.
To own a piece featuring a commemorative hallmark is to own a piece of history. If you would like to discuss a piece of jewellery featuring King Charles III Coronation Hallmark then feel free to get in touch .
